I want to live listening. I want to hear the whispers. I want to listen so closely that I can feel the breath of the Father as He leads my heart and my hands. This is what turns a job into a ministry. It is what turns life into living. It is the road that leads to fulfillment and to those rare but sweet moments where you exclaim, “THIS….is what I was made for.” And that little inkling you feel? That first little step of listening intently and moving just a little? It will bring with it clarification and confirmation.
This little baby landed gently on the doorstep of a family in pain. A goldfeather to remind them of God’s faithfulness and relentless love for each of them. A goldfeather to remind them that while their refinement here on earth is harder than they could have ever imagined, they are constantly under His mighty wings of refuge. A goldfeather impressed upon my heart by their cries and the Lord’s direction. Her words struck me to the core….”On the outside, life for us probably looks relatively normal, but it is not.” Deep under layers of activities, smiles and social media lies the truth: The life we watch on the outside is often not what is truly in the hearts of our friends, our neighbors, our coworkers, and our family members. Pain is everywhere and the hearts of the hurting cry to hear that they are not forgotten. They need-in the deepest part of their soul- to know that GOD sees them….that He sees their endless sobs and late night wide eyes on the ceiling. They need to know He sees their depression, their gripping fear and their anger. They just need to know He sees. If we listen, we can let them know. Deep down in our hearts we will know what we need to say or write or paint or make or do or pray. Listen. Live listening. And love.
